Ingredients
Crab – 1/2 kg (cleaned)
Onion – 2 Nos
Tomato – 2 Nos
Kudampuli/tamarind juice – 1/4 cup
Turmeric Powder – 1/4 tsp
Red chilly powder – 2 tsp
Coriander powder – 2 tsp
Green chilly – 4 nos (slit into half)
Mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp
fennel seeds – 1/4 tsp
Pepper powder – 1 tsp
Dry red chilly – 2 nos
Coconut oil – 2 tbsp
Grated coconut –  1/2 cocunut
Shallots – 4 nos
Garlic cloves – 8 nos
Ginger – a small piece
Curry leaves – 5 sprigs and Salt as needed

Roasted coconut paste:
Heat 1 tbsp coconut oil  in a pan. Add chopped shallots, ginger,  garlic one by one in it and roast under low flame. Add curry leaves also. Roast till coconut gets golden brown, stir it thoroughly and make sure that don’t burn. When it’s almost done stir well by adding 1 tsp coriander powder, Chilly powder, fennel seeds and pepper powder. Then turn off the flame and allow to cool. After cooling grind the mixture into a fine paste.

Method
Clean the  crab, cut into small pieces and keep aside. In a clay pot heat coconut oil splutter mustard seeds and add chopped onion, finely chopped tomato, green chillies (slit into half), curry leaves and saute well. Then add turmeric powder, red chilly powder into it, stir and fry. Add crab pieces with required salt and mix well. Add tamarind or kudampuli juice along with enough water, boil and cook for 5 minutes. Then add grinded coconut paste mix well and cook for 10 – 15 minutes under low flame.

In an another pan heat coconut oil and add sliced shallots, curry leaves and dry red chilly. Fry it and pour over the crab curry.
